Opportunity

Endeavour has an exciting opportunity for an Android Mobile Application Developer Contractor to join our core crew, working directly with the Electrical Engineer and team. This is 3 – 6 months project to assist our GAMMA team.

Endeavour is the main hub—a self-sustaining incubation platform—within a larger ecosystem focused on sustainable infrastructure. It provides the space, time, and all necessary resources to take advanced technologies from ideation through development to launch. Because of Endeavour’s unique business model and ability to cut through red tape, work progresses quickly. As the  Android Mobile Application Developer in this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will be responsible for developing and managing the Android Mobile application systems that communicate with and control distributed IoT sensors and sensor networks.

The Android Mobile Application Developer Contractor needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. The right person is trustworthy with confidential information, highly organized, self-motivated, has excellent communication skills, can think strategically, and works equally as well independently as with a team. The Android Mobile Application Developer Contractor is a vital member of Endeavour’s GAMMA team. We are looking for someone who is willing to own the design, development, testing, and deployment of the GAMMA Android application. The ideal candidate has had experience in deploying applications to the Google Play Store and is aware of the latest Android libraries and trends. They are familiar with and comfortable working in an agile environment and desire to be part of an energetic, driven technology team.

Electrical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Android mobile application for communicating and controlling distributed IoT sensors and sensor networks via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Optimize Android mobile app usability by implementing feedback and feature updates.
  • Improve the robustness and reliability of mobile application by identifying bug source, fixes and patches.
  • Interface with embedded firmware engineers and cloud/backend developers to develop and support the overall lifecycle of IoT sensors.
  • Managing Individual project deadlines.

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years’ experience in Android mobile application development
  • 2+ years’ experience with Android development and deployment platforms
  • 2+ years’ experience with Java or Kotlin and (optional) React Native
  • Experience with mobile development life cycle from design, development, testing, and deployment
         - Has developed & deployed at least 1 mobile application on Google Play Store

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Deep experience with Android functionality including, but not limited to:
         - Bluetooth (BLE 4.2 and above)
         - Android Background Tasks and Scheduler
         - Push Notification
         - Background & Location Services
  • Understanding of React Native and JavaScript libraries
  • Experience working with RESTful API
  • Basic understanding of Wi-Fi Direct and NFC technologies
  • General understanding of mobile application architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile Environment
  • Experience in developing UI/UX and application’s screen navigation pages
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership
