Endeavour has an exciting opportunity for a Firmware Engineer to join our core crew, working directly with the Strategic Development team and Endeavour’s Founder.

As the Firmware Engineer in this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will be responsible for firmware and embedded software development, implementation, and validation for the control of cutting-edge modular, scalable smart grid infrastructure.

The Firmware Engineer needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. Chief Platform Architect, Lead Power Electronics Engineer, Lead Analog Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design robust and real-time embedded software and firmware for power converters and sensing systems
  • Develop networking firmware for distributed embedded systems
  • Optimize code performance and robustness
  • Implement, test, and troubleshoot firmware/embedded software on hardware prototypes
  • Work closely with the hardware & systems engineering teams to support product development
  • Plan and perform firmware/embedded software update, version control, and diagnostics
  • Help validate firmware/embedded software for power electronics using HIL and CIL systems
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming
  • Take ownership of designs, and manage individual tasks, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Travel for 5-10% of the time

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent, (preferred)
  • 2-3 years of experience in embedded development, real-time controls, system software for power electronics, power devices, robotics, or equivalent

Experience with:

  • DSP, FPGA, microcontrollers, and standard peripheral components
  • SPI, CAN, RS-232, EMIF, EDMA, HPI, I2C, serial UART, and similar protocols
  • Embedded peripherals like ADCs, DACs, RTC, timers, etc.
  • TCP/IP and other networking protocols
  • TI CCS platform, TI RTOS and TI AM57xx series
  • ARM-based processors. Experience with multi-core processors is a plus.
  • Intel/Altera Cyclone FPGA family
  • Short-range and other IoT networking protocols like Bluetooth/BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRa, ISM-band RF, etc.
  • OTA/remote software updates
  • Distributed control architecture using networked processor systems
  • Working knowledge of HIL and CIL systems

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Strong skills in real-time, embedded software architecture, and C/C++ programming
  • Deep understanding of real-time operating systems on DSP platforms, code modularity and maintainability, data structure, and digital signal processing
  • Experience in developing code in an agile production environment
  • Test and troubleshoot the code on physical hardware prototypes
  • Ability to interface with cloud and backend developers to develop networking solutions for embedded systems
  • Collaborate and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Work in a dynamic, diverse, and multicultural, and cross-functional team
  • Follow circuit schematics and PCB layout drawings
  • Knowledge of version control (Git)
  • Familiarity with analog and digital control techniques
