Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Colorado Boulder, we are pleased to introduce Jaidyn Davis.
Having graduated from Littleton High School in Colorado, Jaidyn will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering in the Engineering Honors Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. As a recipient of an Endeavour Women In Tech (EWIT) scholarship, Jaidyn hopes to use her education and skills in chemical engineering to find solutions for the myriad and complex problems of climate change.
Growing up in Colorado and enjoying the outdoors, Jaidyn was concerned about the effects of climate change from a very young age. As she said, “While my peers were worried about what to wear on their first day of school, I was freaking out over the fact that climate change was altering global weather patterns.”
Propelling her to explore the paths of engineering and climate change was her participation in the World Affairs Challenge Virtual Exchange. During this six-week program, students from her high school collaborated with students from Morocco to propose solutions for a global problem on the given topic and present their findings via video. Their topic was water. Together, they presented ways to reduce water waste and to produce and consume water more responsibly. After this experience she knew she wanted to blend her passion for the environment with science. The question was how exactly?
Upon taking the IB Chemistry course at school, her path was clear. Said Jaidyn, “I finally knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be a chemical engineer and harness the principles of chemistry to address the problems of climate change in the real world. With a degree in chemical engineering, I hope to obtain sufficient knowledge to become an expert in the fields of chemistry, math, physics, and their applications to create a lasting environmental impact on the world. I want to lead missions to create more sustainable energy and cultivate chemical technology that will allow not just my generation, but future generations, to live on a cleaner Earth.”
Endeavour Women In Tech and the entire Endeavour family are proud to support Jaidyn and young women like her. Congratulations!
