Edged has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering AI Applications Intern to take part in our Summer Internship Program. We are seeking an Engineering AI Applications Intern to work directly with the Director, Technology and Operations, focusing on applying advance analytics to engineering datasets to derive value.

Director, Technology & Operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director, Technology & Operations and other team members to design, develop, and apply AI & advance analytics to existing datasets.
  • Conduct research on NLP/LLM applications in energy efficiency, sustainability, facilities operations, and smart building technologies.
  • Work with and analyze facility operations datasets, including maintenance logs, system hierarchies, sensor data, and industry standards.
  • Develop NLP models to extract insights from these facility operations datasets and industry standards.
  • Develop AI-powered chatbots to assist facility managers with access to operational data and insights and troubleshooting methods and means.
  • Work on fault detection, anomaly detection, and predictive models using LLM-driven approaches.
  • Contribute to developing and refining features in existing datasets to enable future AI & advance analytics.

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing an Undergraduate or Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Facilities Management, Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS), IoT sensor data, and facility/building concepts
  • Experience with programing skills with exposure to AI, LLMs, NLP, and other deep learning frameworks.
  • Preference towards candidates with experience in engineering, and/or facilities/building operations.

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for applying analytics to drive facility improvements and efficiencies.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured facility data such as sensor data, knowledge graphs, maintenance logs, and/or work orders.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, HVAC optimization, or asset management in facility operations a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI deployment strategies a plus.
